Who I am

I am Jill Irving, a self-employed maths tutor offering English-speaking lessons in the Algarve, in person and online. I am the data controller, contactable at hello@algarvemathstutor.com.

What I collect

Information you give me

When you use the contact form, you provide your name, email, optionally who the tuition is for and their school, the help you are interested in, and your message. I use this to respond to your enquiry, arrange a free consultation, and, if we go ahead, organise lessons. I do not sell or share enquiry or student information with third parties.

Information collected automatically

With your consent, I use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. This includes page views, approximate location at city or country level, and the type of device and browser used. Analytics is switched off by default and only runs if you accept; it is not configured for advertising and does not track you across other sites. Cloudflare, my hosting provider, processes basic request information (such as IP address and request headers) to deliver the site securely. Contact form submissions are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile and delivered by email through Mailgun.

Cookies

The only non-essential cookies on this site are those set by Google Analytics 4 when you accept analytics:

• _ga: distinguishes unique visitors. Stored for up to 2 years.
• _ga_TDLYNVJ7J2: Google Analytics session cookie. Stored for up to 2 years.

If you reject analytics, no analytics cookies are set on your device. You can change your choice at any time using the "Analytics" toggle in the footer of every page. Cloudflare Turnstile may also set a temporary token to confirm the contact form is submitted by a person rather than a bot; this is strictly necessary for the form to work.

Legal basis for processing

• Contact form data: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and the steps to enter into a tuition arrangement.
• Analytics cookies: your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the footer toggle.

How long I keep your data

• Contact form messages: 24 months from receipt, then deleted unless we have an active arrangement.
• Tuition records: kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, then deleted.

Where your data is stored

Contact and operational data is held in services based in the EU and UK. Email is processed by Mailgun in the EU.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data I hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority, such as the Portuguese CNPD (cnpd.pt) or the UK ICO (ico.org.uk)

Changes to this notice

If I make material changes I will update the "Last updated" date at the top.
